Capital account
One of two types of band trust accounts held by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). Capital accounts hold money from land sales and non-renewable resource royalties. Spending from this account requires a band council resolution and ministerial approval.

Revenue account
One of two types of band trust accounts held by ISC. Revenue accounts hold money from renewable resource royalties, fines, and interest. Bands have more flexibility spending from revenue accounts than capital accounts, but ISC still maintains oversight.

Trust fund (ISC-held)
Money held by the federal government on behalf of a First Nation, managed by Indigenous Services Canada. These funds come from land surrenders, resource extraction, and settlements. Many communities are working to take direct control of their trust funds for self-determined investment.
